I'm so behind at work, I got up at 4:30 this morning to try to get caught up. It didn't work, but I'm better off now than I was.
The only place to get coffee at 5:30 in the morning when you're out of milk at home is $tarbuck$. While there, I noticed that our lone Indonesian restaurant -- possibly the only one in the Inland Empire -- is now one sad pondok, torn up inside and for lease.
It's a pity. Never in a million years would I have guessed that the O-Lime next door (a Pinkberry plagiarist) would outlast it.
There's a lesson for us here. On let's-eat-out nights, make sure and patronize the offbeat, the unusual, the wackadoodle (as long as they're good, which PS was). Belly up to the table so they don't go belly up!

The only reason that I know where Pondok Salero was is from your description of O-Lime which I have never been in either.
Boy, we (Mike & I)need to open up our options for dinner out night(s). We usually end up at a crappy place and sit there and say to ourselves "what a crappy place" and then go back the next week.

I ate there once, it was really good in the respect it tasted homecooked, as opposed to bulk cooked-
that's too bad it's gone- i kinda forgot the restaurant was there...
who knew coconut flakes on rice would change rice so much!
another restaurant I miss is Carribbean Garden, which was a hop skip and a jump from Pondok- now it's "A Taste of Asia."
what we really need around here is a Morrocan restaurant...I'm tired of going to LA or Costa Mesa to eat honey lamb and couscous...
i'd settle for a brazilian churrascaria though- Green Field's is good, but it'd be nice to have one within "waddling" distance...
Oh, Meg. Its demise was noted in my column on July 6! Just a month before, I'd featured the place in a column on international dining. Too little, too late, I suppose...
