cheaper by the dozen

[UPDATE: Certain details edited out of both post and comments to protect folks' privacy]

According to our Neighborhood Watch Block Capitan, a nearby street features a full-time house of prostitution, with the attendant concerns about human trafficking. I cruised around, trying to figure out which house it was, but all the houses looked the same to me. Anybody know anything about it? [UPDATE: Never mind!]

I'm happy to announce two new co-authors of M-M-M-My Pomona: Frequent commenters (and neighbors of renown) John Clifford and Ed have signed onto the good ship Bloggipop. Thanks very much, chaps! And if anyone else wants to sign on, just drop me a line.

I'm stumped. We walk that block all the time. I know of a house that has problems of another sort, but hmmm now I'm wondering too.

Sorry to see you'll be on hiatus, but I'm eagerly awaiting those guest posts.

Hmm... what kind of other problems? I hope you don't mean bad landscaping and an anemic lawn, because we could certainly be hauled off on those charges....

I'll be watching the posts. I had heard that it was more near Garfield and Gibbs. Any block captains out there who want to give us the details?

Im right between Gibbs and Bradford and its none of my neighbors, I know them all, and no prostitution ring for sure. The only house over here that looks strange is the one that has had boxes on the porch since we moved in 6 months ago.

no, as in just repeated police calls. someone beating up on someone type of thing.

I think John is right that it's a different block. I have two readers on that block so maybe they will chime in.

I did, however, finally rake up a 12 inch pile of leaves covering our entire front lawn yesterday to avoid the dirty looks from leaf-hating neighbors. :)

How do you find out about problem homes on specific blocks. Does the Pomona PD have records and will they share it with the public? Or is just word of mouth?

Our block captain apparently learned about it at the BC meeting last week. I don't know how reliable the info is, though.

Are there plans to report it and shut it down. Or should we all just do marches in the front yard at night until it stops.

Is there some definitive evidence that illegal activity is actually occurring at this house?

Oh, and me with my ear to the ground has never even heard a whisper about that house in this regards.

In reference to the second paragraph of the post....how about we change neighbors of renown to simply neighbor of renown. It'll be years before I can put in the amount of hours John has offered to the community.

In the "neighbor of renown" competition, what you lack in public service, Ed, you make up for in proximity to our house.

At the meeting last week the activities that had been observed by neighbors in close proximity to the house sure did sound like some thing is going on. Apparently there is an illegal garage conversion in the back where "stuff" is happening.
My understanding of a neighborhood watch is watching and reporting what is observed. The police have not been called (yet, that I know of). It was just activity that was noted by home owners who don't want hookers working out af a garage across the street.

Does anyone talk to these neighbors? Do they seem friendly, or do they seem like they are intentionally avoiding contact with the rest of the neighborhood.
