PUSD has scheduled several community meetings to discuss the search for a new superintendent. I don't know the exact format, but it's probably a Q&A with the School Board. If you're interested:
Wednesday, Sept. 16, Palomares Middle School gym, at 4:30 pm (PUSD staff) and 6:30 pm (public); Thursday, Sept. 17, Fremont Middle School gym, at 4:30 pm (PUSD staff) and 6:30 pm (public); and Monday, Sept. 21, Lorbeer Middle School gym, at 4:30 pm (PUSD staff) and 6:30 pm (public). An online survey is also available on our district website: www.pusd.org
Also, congrats should go to students, faculty and staff of Montvue Elementary (on San Bernardino, near Indian Hill) which boosted their API score by 60 points this year.
Please support the Pomona schools.

I agree Ed. Our children deserve to have the best the City and district can offer.
If Jason Rothman & Robert Torres are the quality of people that can be on the Pomona School board I should throw my hat into the ring for Superintendent.
I too, have no discirnable qualifications for such an important job and apparently it doesn't matter.
discenible....
See, i'm not qualified.
Discernible.
:)
Funny, I thought it was discernable. I looked it up and both spellings are used.
Yes, Ms. Lois, our students deserve to have the best our city can offer, and that means the best School Board members, too. Keep researching and don't forget to vote November 3. Check out the Arts for LA site for school board responses about the arts here: http://www.artsforla.org/sbs2009/pomona
I forgot to mention I went to the first round of public questioning of the first three candidates tonight for the PUSD Superintendent. Very interesting choices, some quite well spoken with varied backgrounds. Tomorrow we will hear from three more, including two with Pomona ties. Tuesday, 7 p.m. in the PUSD Board room.
