The Big Read

Ok, let's pony up and support the Big Read in Pomona. We don't have the cute, informative signs that have sprouted up all over Claremont (I so prefer the proliferation of red, white, and blue candidate signs anyway), so if you haven't heard us Pomonans (Pomonians?) have been assigned Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird".

Anyway.......how many of you are reading it, planning on reading it, or have absolutely no intention of reading it?

These are the events for the upcoming week.

Any takers? How about for the trivia contest?

Meg and K, how can you pass this up!?

And John, I remember you saying something about trivia. Maybe a PH team.

Heh.

Okay, if we can find a few other folks (Ed? S? John? Deb? You-know-who-you-are?), I'd throw in for a M-M-M-My Pomona team. Throw in some bucks and some brain cells, I mean. Any interest? Seriously, I'd be up for it.

I do have a love-hate relationship with *To Kill a Mockingbird*... Love, because it recreates the South of my childhood incredibly well. And hate because A) it is completely lacking in nuance or ambiguity and B) my mother would never let me cut my hair like Scout's in the movie.

I'm having flashbacks of high school this was required reading for us in the 90's. pretty good book. Everytime I drink Coke from Mexico in the glass bottle(I'm a bit scared of American Coke because of High Fructose Corn Syrup and the ones without that have Aspartame) I'm reminded of this book.

They use real sugar in Mexican Coke is what I mean.
