I'll interrupt this gastronomic melancholy to remind us that we live in Pomona.
I've been adding to the September homicide map to visually compare Pomona Valley with the rest of LA County. Special thanks to the homicide map of the LA Times for providing the additional info. A different perspective can be illuminating.
October's map will be in a couple of days.

the map u linked has none of the Pomona homocides... does that mean there were none in September? or does it mean it didn't link properly?
None for September, but two to date for October. Hopefully, the Hallo-thanks-mas spirit over the next two months will illuminate another option for that miniscule fraction of people who seem to define "Pomona".
Tragedy struck in the wee hours of November 1st. According to the SGVT, Jonathan Estrada was shot several times while confronting two men who carjacked his girlfriend's car. The homicide occurred in a residential complex at the border of Pomona and Diamond Bar. No arrests have been made.
well i just heard three gunshots... hopefully there won't be any more to the list.
and subsequent helicopters.... that lucera court shooting near diamond bar, a lot of cal poly students live there. too bad this stuff doesn't get covered in the regular news, but then again Pomona's reputation might get worse. In the words of Ice Cube in Boyz in the Hood, "Either they don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's going on in the hood."
