Claremont Insider covered this fully today, so there's no real reason for me to post at all, except that Xavier Alvarez done outdid hisself.
I'm sure you're aware that he was censured by his fellow members of the Three Valleys Municipal Water District Board for having lied about the state of his marriage in order to get health insurance for his ex-wife.
The other night, he attempted to persuade them to remove the censure, using the argument that he was merely following orders -- the orders of the Catholic Church. Moreover, according to X-Alv, to disagree with his position is to disrespect religion as a whole (although he showed his open-mindedness by adding "That's your prerogative").
Now, I'm no theologian, but my understanding is that the Catholic Church takes a dim view of divorce. What about that following orders now, hm?
There's probably a long philosophical investigation to be made into X-Alv's tendency to connect unquestionable authorities (the armed services, the Church) with lying, but I have other things to do with my saturday afternoon.
"I swan" is what my father said to express complete amazement. As for the pikkie, that's Pope Pius XII, another Catholic who had certain problems with the military and a selective approach to God's commands.

This guy is amazing! He claims a religous obligation for the reason that he lied to get his ex-wife taxpayer insurance. Then he states that it doesn't make any difference because the insurance company paid for it. So it's OK to cheat an insurance company? So that won't have any effect on future payments that the taxpayers have to make for insurance. And when confronted by the ABC reporter, he was "misconfused" about being a medal of honor winner.
And if his religious justification were to be taken seriously and he was such a devoted church member, then why did he get divorced in the first place since the church is categorically against it. Perhaps he was also "misconfused" about church doctrine.
Even if his misconfusion was legitimate, he still told bald-faced lies about serving in the military, being shot, having an engineering degree, and attending Cal Poly. Or maybe he was also "misconfused" about what serving means or what being shot means, or what attending means.
Oh, and he states that no one over the age of 50 should be allowed to serve on the water board (he turned 50 on Thursday). So according to him we "Neanderthals" should just dry up and die. We no longer have anything to contribute. Well we know he watches movies (that's where he got his war stories) so now he's suggesting we live the life in Logan's Run, plus 20 years.
This guy is such a joke. And he still thinks he's being mistreated by people out to get him. I'm sure if he reads this blog that he will feel this is politically motivated. The only one who seems to be out to get him is himself.
Who knows some folks from South Pomona or Phillips Ranch so I can help them recall him? Those are the people who will ultimately have to sign the petition. I'd really love to see the expression on his face when he is served with the papers at a Board meeting, though. That would be worth the price of admission.
