Newness abounds at Casa Jimenez

I found myself craving soup this evening, so I went to Casa Jimenez for some albondigas. The restaurant sported shiny new menus and new hours -- lots of new hours. The restaurant is now open 24 hours per day. 3AM taco cravings, here I come!

Oh, that is fabulous news! There was always Alberto's drive-through, but a sit-down place with 24/7 huevos con chorizo, well, Pomona's looking up!

Ok, I can remotely grasp the early morning craving, but I hope we remember the poor sap who has to be up at 3AM to cook huevos con chorizo! If there ever were conditions that called for a big tip, this is it.

True enough, Ed (love your new icon, btw!). But in fact, K. and I really just need a place that's still serving food at 9pm -- which until recently Casa J wasn't. Even dba256 stops serving nibblies at 9pm.

If you move to California from NYC, Madrid, or Buenos Aires, it's reeducation time in terms of mealtimes.

We run into that problem with the late arrival of the less-inflammatory half. Our usual stop,El Merendero, is closed by 8:30.

So, we have two Casa Jimenez's in town (at least). Is it the one downtown on Third Street, or is it the one on Garey at Foothill (in the Albertson's lot)? Or both?

Mostly don't want to show up someplace only to find out that I was at the wrong one.

I have been to this Casa Jimenez on 3rd. We went after a little too much at the DBA on an empty stomach. Good quick food at great prices. Once our tummies were full, we walked right back to the DBA and continued!

My vote goes to Los Jarritos up on North Garey (near Casa Jimenez).

I am not a fan of Casa Jiminez.
The food is not all that great and the service can be indifferent at times.

I love the albondigas at Casa Jimenez (yes, the one on 3rd). Really, I crave this stuff. Their chips are toasty warm, too :)

Put me in the unimpressed category regarding Casa Jimenez too, although 24-hour restaurants are always welcomed.

La Fuente on South Garey at (I think) 10th was also open 24/7 last time I checked.
